Architect David Harlan’s  recent photographs entitled “Storefronts” are on display at Seychelles as well as  two other downtown New Haven locations: Enson’s and Greg’s.

The new images are fragments of seasonal window displays taken between 2007 and 2009 in New York City and elsewhere and are in medium and large format.

David’s photos are a perfect complement to our new collection of Sherri Hill cocktail dresses and gowns.

Seychelles’ Fall Calendar of Events

Seychelles has a great list of events planned for the Fall/Holiday Season. We hope  that you can join us.

On October 1, 2009, 6pm-8pm, Seychelles New Haven will host a book reading by world reknown Spa Expert and  author Mary Muryn.

 

Mary Muryn, author, will be reading from her book Spa Magic and sharing recipes from famous spas from around the  world  like  The Four Seasons  and the Ritz Carlton. Mary will  also show you how to make your own aromatherapy concoction for your personal at home spa.

As usual, we’re having our signature live mannequins in the window, offering a 15% off discount to all customers, and serving refreshments.

 

On Thursday, October 15th  12noon-3pm  Seychelles Westport will host a trunk show for Signette by Aysha Saeed. 

 Aysha is a New York City designer, who embodies femininity, elegance and exotic beauty, all which are reflected in her collections. Aysha will preview her Fall 2009 collection to Seychelles customers. This new collection embraces femininity with lace and ruffle detailing, corsetry, and feminine silhouettes. Aysha’s description of her new collection: ” Couture elements are certainly present in my fall collection, and styling is fit for a woman who is strong yet likes to flirt with color — giving her a modern day edge.” Her attention to detail is amazing and can be likened to designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and John Galliano whom she worked with in Milan and Paris.

 

 

Seychelles will host two book readings by famous author Wendy Walker. The First will be on Wednesday, November 4th – 1pm in Westport and the second on Thursday, November 5th at 6pm in New Haven.

Wendy Walker will be reading from her  new novel Social Lives. In this novel she reveals  how the world of  money and privilege affects  the women who inhabit it, bringing to light the family dynamics it corrupts, the glittering cages  it creates, and most poignantly, the lengths  some will go to  keep  wealth in their  grasp. This gripping tale of domestic intrigue and social aspirations in the super-wealthy suburbs of Connecticut will scandalize and enthrall you.

 

Wendy Walker is a former commercial litigator who has been a stay-at-home mom for the past eleven years. She began writing several years ago and her first novel, Four Wives, was released in February, 2008, Her second novel Social Lives was released September 2009. Wendy recently edited Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms.

 

 

On Friday and Saturday, November 6th & 7th, Seychelles New Haven will host a Trunk Show for Gwendolyn Gleason Eco Couture Bridal and Eveningwear. We’ll host Gwendolyn in Seychelles  Westport on November 12,  13, 14th. All of her dresses are made in certified organic fabrics from Europe and the USA. Exclusive laces, beading and embroideries give this collection a European romanticist flair while being fabulously earth friendly. Gwendolyn Gleason is a pioneer in this area of  Eco-chic Couture, having launched the concept and first designs in the Fall of 2007. Signature details as seen in the best ateliers take this Eco-”green”concept to another level of sophistication.
