From Finance to Fashion: An evening with fashion designer Aysha Saeed

November 29, 2009
New York City based Fashion Designer Aysha Saeed is returning to Seychelles with her Holiday 2009 Collection. However, this time there will be a twist not only will she present her collection to our Seychelles client, she will also give a talk at Seychelles New Haven on December 3rd at 6pm about her transition from finance to the world of fashion.

After working in finance for many years, Aysha left Wall Street and moved to Milan to pursue her interest in fashion design. Aysha will give an informal talk about how she made the decision to leave Wall Street to pursue her true passion for fashion, her experiences in Italy and how she started her own collection. We are super excited to co-sponsored this event with YCouture.

A trunk show featuring informal modeling and a reception will follow Aysha’s talk. This a great opportunity for everyone who missed Aysha’s October trunk show at Seychelles Westport to meet Aysha, learn more about her and see her gorgeous collection in Seychelles New Haven.

Check out some photos below  of Aysha’s  Fall/Holiday 2009 editorial shoot. The photos shoot  location was at the Seacroft Estate, where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt lived earlier this year.

Aysha’s collection is  feminine and elegant and most importantly for us at Seychelles the fit is amazing!

Eco-Chic Couture Bridal Trunk Show at Seychelles

Seychelles New Haven hosted an eco couture bridal and evening wear trunk show this past week-end. Our featured designer Gwendolyn Gleason presented her collection of environmentally friendly gowns. What is an environmentally friendly gown?

Well, all of Gwendolyn’s dresses are made from certified organic fabrics and she also uses “peace silk”.  The process of creating peace silk differs from most commercial silk process, because the silkworm is allowed to live out its full life cycle. Instead of being reeled, the silk undergoes a process of degumming and is then spun in a similar manner as other fibers. The results are the same, if not better. The yarn is flexible, soft, and airy!

If you missed Gwendolyn in our New Haven store last week, please  come to Seychelles Westport on November 13th & 14th to meet her and view her collection.

Considering having an eco-friendly wedding? Here are some environmentally friendly wedding tips:

1.)  Get a custom designed eco couture gown from Gwendolyn Gleason at Seychelles Dresses.

2) Choose beeswax or soy-based candles for your wedding and reception.

3)  Contact  LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)  which certifies spaces as sustainable by their efficient use of earth-friendly energy. This organization has a list of wedding venues that have met the LEED standard. Check out their website.
