Flights of Fancy February 4th Update……

Flights of Fancy, Downtown New Haven’s popular wine tasting and shopping event returns on Friday, February 4th, 2011 at 4 pm. The event, sponsored by The Wine Thief and the Shubert Theater and presented by the Broadway and Chapel Merchants Associations, features in-store wine tastings, special discounts and extraordinary giveaways at over 20 Downtown shops. Free validated parking is available at The York Street Garage (150 York Street) for all Flights of Fancy participants. The event is limited to the first 700 registrants and reservations are encouraged. Attendees register at the Shubert Theater, 247 College Street, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Registration is $10 and includes the exclusive Flights of Fancy wine glass, a map of participating shops, entry into the grand prize drawing, validated parking, trolley rides, coffee and dessert. Once registered, participants sample fine wines provided by The Wine Thief (181 Crown Street) and receive 25% off their favorite item at participating stores in the Broadway and Chapel shopping districts. A special Flights of Fancy trolley will be available to shuttle participants between the shopping districts throughout the evening. Participating merchants include: archetype clothing, Ashley’s Ice Cream, Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Yale, Blue State Coffee, Campus Customs, Celtica, Claire’s Corner Copia, Denali, derek simpson … goldsmith, Enclave, Froyoworld, Hull’s Art Supply & Framing, idiom, Owl Shop, Peter Indorf Jewelers, Raggs, Seychelles, The Study Hotel at Yale, Thom Brown, Tracy b, Trailblazer, Tyco, Wave Gallery, Willoughby’s Coffee & Tea, and Yurway Designs. At 8:15 pm, attendees return to the Shubert for Willoughby’s coffee, dessert, and a grand prize drawing for a complimentary stay for two at The Study Hotel at Yale. Additional prizes include a cocktail class with John Ginnetti, owner and chief mixologist of 116 Crown, tickets to the 2011 New Haven Open at Yale, brunch for two at Bespoke and more. Flights of Fancy Giveaway Prize!

~ New Haven Shopping Event Offers Wine Tastings, Exclusive Savings and Giveaways~

2nd Flights of Fancy event to take place July 16, 2010

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – June 14, 2010 – As a hub for culture and fashion, it is no

surprise that downtown New Haven is steadily gaining a reputation as one of the premier

shopping destinations on the East Coast. With over 50 specialty boutiques through out the

Elm City, the shopping scene is widespread, yet tailored to the individual consumer.

Tapping into this reputation, New Haven’s 2nd Flights of Fancy event, on July 16, 2010,

will feature in-store wine tastings, special discounts and extraordinary giveaways at 25

select stores in the Broadway and Chapel districts. Following the success of the first

Flights of Fancy event in February, the Broadway and Chapel merchants have decided to

bring the event back to New Haven this summer. Registration is required as the number

of guests is limited and the event is expected to fill up quickly.

From 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. participating stores will open their doors to host wine tastings and

offer patrons an opportunity to receive “25% off their favorite item”. The Flights of

Fancy itinerary includes:

• 4:30 pm – 6 pm: Registration at the Shubert Theater. Cost is $10 per person,

which includes 25 tastings of wine, a complimentary Flights of Fancy wine glass,

and a map that conveniently lists all participating merchants. Guests of Flights of

Fancy must be 21 years of age and must show valid id to participate. The

Shubert will offer refreshments to guests before they venture out into the

Broadway and Chapel Districts.

• 5 pm – 8 pm: Visit the twenty-five participating merchants in the Chapel and

Broadway Shopping districts who are hosting wine tastings, courtesy of The

Wine Thief, and enjoy special discounts and exclusive sales. There will be live,

entertainment throughout the districts as you stroll from store to store. A Flights

of Fancy trolley will conveniently transport guests from the Shubert Theater to the

Broadway district between 5 pm, and 7 pm.

• 8:15 pm: Guests are encouraged to return to the Shubert Theater for a chance to

win one of over 25 fabulous prizes, while enjoying complimentary coffee.
