Getting Ready for New Year’s Eve

December 30, 2011

The most essential item for your New Year’s Eve celebration is the perfect dress. At Seychelles Dresses we’ve selected the perfect dress that’s a classic standout “look at me” dress from our favorite designer Sherri Hill.

So, what do you wear with a fabulous sequined, low back gown that’s guaranteed to have ‘all eyes on you’?
We are showing this Sherri Hill gown in royal blue, black, silver and turquoise. Remember the gown is the center piece of your outfit and is also going to function as an accessory. Focus on keeping your accessories all one single color: metallic clutch, a pair of nude shoes, chandelier earrings are perfect compliments to your look. Ok, so now we have your accessories sorted. What about make up? Neutral makeup works best. Your makeup should not compete with your dress. A simple lipstick or lipgloss in a color that’s close to your natural lip color. Choose a neutral eyeshadow that will complement your dress color, such as beige, brown, light pink or caramel. Next, finish your make up by selecting the right eye pencil for your eyeliner and mascara. Make your eyes pop by applying a coat of mascara to separate your lashes.
Now you are ready for a fabulous night!

Happy New Year from all of us at Seychelles Dresses!

Elegance makes beautiful second time brides

October 20, 2011

Worried about what you should wear down the aisle for the second time? What color can you wear? Is white still appropriate? Black is slimming, red is celebratory and pastels are civilized. What about attendants? It can all be very confusing.

<img
We offer the following advice for second time brides:
· Choose a simple, elegant or sophisticated look. For morning weddings you may wear a semi-formal or informal dress from ankle to floor length or even a suit. For afternoon to evening, a sheath with a jacket or a floor length gown is most appropriate.
· Two-piece A great option is an elegant two-piece ensemble. These styles are incredibly flattering and elegant and may be worn again as separates to formal events.
· Color Subtle shades of pink, blue, yellow and lilac are trendy among bridal designers and are deemed perfect for second time brides. Choose a color palette with tones flattering to your skin and personality.
· Veils You may wear a chin length veil if you desire, since this is your day and you should wear what makes you feel beautiful. Longer veils and trains are traditionally reserved for first time brides.
· White Yes, you may wear a white dress, although many second brides prefer ivory for a more flattering look. But white dresses are no longer forbidden, Just avoid princess and traditional bridal gowns because you may have outgrown that look.
· Sleeker gowns in fabrics like silk crepe and silk twill are a sophisticated and beautiful options. However, your fabric choices may depend on the season or the climate where you are getting married.
For outdoor summertime or tropical weddings, choose fabrics such as sheer chiffons or organza. In colder climates satin, silk faille or silk shantung are good choices.
Remember, it’s your day! You can go all out for wedding number two! The key is to be true to your personal style, wear something you find comfortable and suits the type of ceremony you have chosen. Above all, wear what makes you look and feel beautiful.

The September Issue

September 26, 2011

It is Summer’s end…I’m in my studio at 129 Church Street, New Haven. CT with fashion on my mind. I’m reading the September issue of China Vogue.
There are six beautiful models wearing gowns from the Gucci Fall 2011 collection. The colors are vibrant: peacock blue, plum, fuschia, red, yellow.
The colors remind me of Caribbean sailing, St Tropez, Canne and Monte Carlo and all the fabulous colors that I saw on the runway during fashion week.
Yes…color is back! We can’t wait to debut our gown collection for Fall 2011. Stay tuned for more updates
and events coming soon.

So, every once in a while all fashionistas must seek inspiration to bring excitement to their wardrobe. A new season is very quickly approaching so went on a little scouting mission to New York City to find some inspiration for our Fall wardrobe.
Maybe something trendy, classic or maybe a little bohemian?

What’s the best lingerie to pack for your Summer Vacation?

July 14, 2011

Ok, so the rule of thumb is to always bring more underwear than you think that you’ll need.

Keisha’s tips for the best travel lingerie:

1) Lace thongs with matching camisoles or bras. Select at least one bright Summer color like yellow!
2) Pick up a nude “shape wear” panty to put underneath that tiny see through number (its our little secret that smooths out all the lumps and bumps) and you should also pair it with a comfortable strapless nude bra.
3) Camisoles – Select basic colors like black, white, nude. You’ll never know when you need one to layer under a jacket or a sun dress.
4) Bring a couple pairs of cotton basics (skip the granny panties and pick up a couple pairs of hipsters).
5.) Pack a Chemise or two in your favorite color. I’m a big fan of pink.

Summer vacation lingerie should be fun and easy to wear and pack. Don’t forget to put all your delicates in a cute monogram lingerie bag!
